Surgery Day
Well, Mack decided he wanted to attack the surgery a little faster than everyone else, so he’s going in for surgery to take a first go at solving the Vein of Galen Malformation (VOGM) tomorrow at 10:30 am (June 15th).
This surgery will take all day, so there will be lots of opportunities for prayers and thoughts for him and his surgery team the whole day!
Mom and dad both got to hold Macklin tonight before surgery comes tomorrow. This filled our hearts so deeply.
New Stuff
In other news, we moved into the Ronald McDonald House here in Iowa City yesterday and Keira is loving it. So many fun things for her to do and some easy amenities for us to use while we try to create a home away from home.
You also might have seen that our family started a GoFundMe for us to help with future and unpredictable expenses. If you would like to give there or through Venmo (@corynikkel), you can. So many people have already been such a blessing to us, from gift cards to snack baskets, cards, and flowers to mowing our yard to prayers to checking in to loving on Keira or watering flowers...the list goes on. We are deeply grateful for a big family that is fighting alongside us. Thank you.
Overall, we believe in the power of prayers, in miracles, and in a God who transcends all understanding. We continue to put our full faith and trust in Him for the life of Macklin, whether here or in heaven. Please continue to join us in praying for Mack Attack!
Specific Prayer Requests:
1) For a miracle, that we'd wake up tomorrow and the doctors' socks would be knocked off that Macklin is cured for no reason other than the work of the Lord.
2) For Macklin to take on surgery like a champ. That his body could take the navigation of medical tools through his veins, that his body can efficiently use the drugs he's given to be protected, and that the correct veins would be coiled or embolized so that all the blood is rerouted efficiently for his entire body.
3) For the surgeons to have the perfect picture of Macklin's veins in his brain. That they would have great wisdom, steady hands, perfect maneuvers, and do as much as they possibly can to take on the VOGM and fix it.
4) For mom, dad, and family. This is a big day with a lot of risks. Pray for hearts full of faith, trust, and peace.
Ephesians 3: 14 - 21
Cory & Courtney, we stand with you in praying for Macklin. We pray God's covering over him, the Dr's, nurses and anyone involved in the surgery. We pray it goes smoothly and little Macklin comes thru amazingly. We pray for peace and a calm will be felt by all the family as you have a long day of waiting ahead. Blessings
